SPRING IS HERE! EVENTS FOR SPRING/SUMMER: It’s Spring time. Please come out to our sanctioned B match (you received the flyer) at Arcadia Park on Sunday, March 29. Judging starts at 10:00 a.m. If you don’t have a pup to enter, please come support everyone else and make it a time to socialize and visit. There’s a second match that afternoon put on by the GWTA……And the start of summer is the start of our specialty weekend (it happens June 19-21). We will be at a new lovely site near the Queen Mary in Long Beach. With some meetings and shows in-between, we hope to see you at many of these! SPRINGTIME SAFETY TIPS: Speaking of springtime, here are some safety tips for your wheaten: · Beware of toxic plants to dogs such as lilies, azaleas, rhododendrons and oleander. · Keep the chocolate bunnies away from your Wheaten as Easter approaches. Chocolate is not good for your dog; and the plastic grass used in baskets can be fatal if swallowed. · Rich foods you may be serving to your guests at springtime can cause health problems such as Pancreatitis if the dog ingests too much. · Home improvement products like paints and fertilizers can be toxic. Check labels. · And beware of a metal lawn edging device: if the top is left uncovered or rounded, the edging can slice through your dog’s foot and cause extensive injuries. · Underground sprinkler systems may be attractive play items for the dog, but could bring a flooded yard to you if he/she eats any of it, not to mention the danger involved to the dog. These are just a sample of some tips to ensure your dog welcomes spring and remain healthy and happy without these products! Wagging Tails, Miriam Kahan SCWTCSC President |
