The entry fee for the workshop is $1.00, and $6.00 for each event, conformation or performance. This is a very affordable, low-pressure way to get some ring experience for pups and class dogs.

Wheaten herding!

Sunday, Feb. 12:  The long-awaited return of Wheaten herding!  Location:  Judy Vanderford’s ranch, Lake View Terrace; time 9:00am
See the Herding Flyer for full details

•From I-5 N/S:  Exit at Osborne Ave., and continue until Osborne dead ends into Foothill Blvd. Take a right on Foothill; stay on Foothill until you go under the 210 freeway. Take a left at the next light (Osborne resumes).
•From I-405 N/S: Merge onto CA 118 E.  Merge onto I-210 E via left exit toward Pasadena.  Continue on 210 E and follow directions immediately below.
•From I-210 E/W:  Exit at Osborne St. toward Lake View Terrace.
•From All Freeways, once at Osborne:  Turn north onto Osborne; two signs will indicate to Ranger Way Station and Angeles Nat’l Forest. Stay on Osborne, which turns into Little Tujunga Canyon Road. You will see signs saying Ranger Station ahead. After you pass the Ranger Station it will be a curvy road, and you will be climbing. Pass the California Polo Club. Pay close attention to signs for LAPD Shooting range ahead and you will see a sign “Entering Angeles Nat’l Forest.” RIGHT there you will turn right, at a yellow gate that says “Entering Private Property.” You will go down a steep hill. The dirt road turns into a curvy asphalt road; continue up the hill. There are also big power transformers on the hillside.  When you see sheep, that is Judy’s place.
•What to bring:
–Car:  Drive an SUV, if you have one.  The road on the last leg is safe, but partially unpaved.
–For dogs:  Crate/ex-pen with sun cover, poop bags and ample water
–Food and seating: Lunch (TBD potluck), drinks and snacks; also chairs; there will be morning hospitality provided by the club
–Shade: there is absolutely none at the ranch.  EZ-Up tents are highly recommended.  Sun block and sunglasses are a must.
–Clothing:  Wear old clothes you don’t mind getting dirty and sweaty. Wind gusts can be frequent if forecast. An extra pair of shoes is advised; you will be walking and running in sheep you-know-what.
–Good news:  fully functional restroom on the premises!
